Ingredients
  

Apple Fritter Batter
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp nutmeg
  • 0.33 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.33 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 2 eggs
  • 0.5 cup milk or buttermilk
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1.5 cups apples peeled and finely diced
Vanilla Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Preheat waffle maker and lightly grease with butter or spray.
  2. Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugars together in a large bowl.
  3. In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, butter, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  5. Fold in diced apples.
  6. Spoon batter into waffle maker and cook 3–4 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Transfer to a wire rack and cool 10 minutes.
  8. Whisk glaze ingredients until smooth and dip or drizzle donuts.
  9. Allow glaze to set before serving.

Notes

Add chopped pecans or drizzle with caramel sauce for a decadent twist.
