Ingredients
  

Cake Batter
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.75 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.75 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1.5 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs large
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 0.5 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot coffee
  • 0.5 cup melted dark chocolate cooled
Chocolate Frosting
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3.5 cups powdered sugar
  • 0.75 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 200 g melted dark chocolate cooled

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two round cake pans.
  2. Whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Mix eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla in a separate bowl until smooth.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients gently until just mixed.
  5. Add hot coffee and melted chocolate, mixing until batter is smooth and thin.
  6. Divide batter into pans and bake for 30–35 minutes.
  7. Cool completely on a wire rack before frosting.
  8. Beat butter, cocoa, powdered sugar, cream, and melted chocolate until fluffy.
  9. Frost layered cake generously and chill before slicing.

Notes

For extra richness, add a chocolate ganache drip and chill the cake before serving for cleaner slices.
