Ingredients
  

Base
  • 40 saltine crackers about one sleeve
Toffee Layer
  • 1 cup unsalted butter 2 sticks
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
Topping
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 0.5 cup holiday sprinkles or nuts

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil and spray lightly.
  2. Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer, salt side up.
  3. Melt butter and brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until combined. Bring to a boil for 3 minutes.
  4. Pour toffee mixture evenly over crackers and spread with a spatula.
  5. Bake for 5 minutes until bubbly. Remove from oven.
  6. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Let melt 2 minutes, then spread evenly.
  7. Top with sprinkles, nuts, or candy, then chill for 30 minutes.
  8. Break into pieces and store in airtight container.

Notes

Add a white chocolate drizzle or crushed peppermint for a festive twist.
