Ingredients
  

Cookies
  • 2.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 0.75 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg large
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 1.5 tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Whisk dry ingredients together.
  2. Cream butter and sugars until fluffy.
  3. Add egg, milk, vanilla, and food coloring.
  4. Mix in dry ingredients until combined.
  5. Chill dough, then bake at 350°F for 10–12 minutes.
  6. Cool and frost with cream cheese frosting.

Notes

Gel food coloring provides best color without thinning dough.
