Method
- Boil potatoes until tender, drain, and mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper.
- Sauté onion and carrots in olive oil for 5 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook 1 minute.
- Add ground lamb or beef and cook until browned.
- Stir in tomato paste, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Add broth and Worcestershire and simmer 5 minutes.
- Stir in peas and remove from heat.
- Spread filling into a baking dish and top with mashed potatoes.
- Bake at 400°F for 20–25 minutes until golden and bubbling.
Notes
Broil during the last 2–3 minutes for extra browning.
