Ingredients
  

Creamed Beef Mixture
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 1 jar dried beef 4.5–5 oz, rinsed and chopped
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper or more to taste
  • 0.25 tsp garlic powder optional
  • paprika pinch, optional
For Serving
  • 8 slices toast buttered if desired
  • fresh parsley for garnish

Method
 

  1. Rinse dried beef under cool water to remove excess salt, pat dry, and chop into pieces.
  2. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Whisk in flour to form a smooth roux and cook 1–2 minutes.
  3. Slowly whisk in milk, stirring constantly until gravy begins to thicken.
  4. Stir in chopped dried beef, black pepper, and optional seasonings. Simmer 3–5 minutes.
  5. Adjust consistency with additional milk if needed.
  6. Toast bread slices and butter if desired.
  7. Spoon creamed chipped beef over toast and garnish with parsley.

Notes

Adjust pepper to taste — it's the signature flavor of SOS.
