  • 1 lb Italian sausage mild or spicy
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1.5 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 0.5 cup parmesan cheese grated
  • 20 oz cheese tortellini refrigerated
  • 2.5 cups broccoli florets
  • 0.5 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper

Method
 

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet. Add sausage and cook until browned, breaking it into crumbles.
  2. Add garlic and cook 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream. Add salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Bring to a simmer.
  4. Add tortellini and cook uncovered for 7–8 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add broccoli florets and cook for 5 minutes until tender.
  6. Stir in parmesan cheese and simmer until thickened.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning, then serve warm with extra parmesan.

Notes

For extra creaminess, add a spoon of cream cheese. For a lighter sauce, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
