Ingredients
  

French Toast Base
  • 8 slices brioche bread thick cut
  • 4 eggs large
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 0.5 cup whole milk
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.5 tsp cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp salt
Brûlée Topping
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Baking dish
  • Whisk
  • Kitchen torch or broiler

Method
 

  1. Butter a baking dish and arrange bread slices evenly.
  2. Whisk eggs, cream, milk, brown sugar, butter, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Pour custard over bread and press gently.
  4. Cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours or overnight.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40–45 minutes until set.
  6. Sprinkle sugar evenly and caramelize with torch or broiler.
  7. Serve immediately.

Notes

Brûlée topping should be added just before serving for best texture.
