Method
- Add beef, potatoes, carrots, celery, onion, and garlic to the crockpot.
- Stir in broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire, salt, pepper, thyme, paprika, and bay leaf.
- Cook on LOW 7–8 hours or HIGH 4–5 hours until beef is tender.
- Stir in cornstarch slurry during the last 20 minutes if thicker stew is desired.
- Remove bay leaf, adjust seasoning, and serve hot.
Notes
Browning beef before adding enhances flavor but is optional.
