Easy Bubba’s Crab Stew

Ingredients
  

Vegetables & Aromatics
  • 1 small onion finely diced
  • 2 stalks celery diced
  • 1 bell pepper diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 14 oz diced tomatoes drained
Seafood & Dairy
  • 1 lb lump crab meat picked over for shells
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups seafood or chicken stock
Seasonings
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 0.5 tsp cayenne pepper optional
  • 1 tsp Old Bay seasoning
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley chopped, for garnish
Optional Serving Additions
  • Crusty bread or oyster crackers

Equipment

Method
 

  1. Heat butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add onions, celery, bell pepper, and garlic. Sauté 5–7 minutes until softened.
  2. Stir in diced tomatoes, paprika, cayenne (if using), Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook 2–3 minutes.
  3. Pour in stock. Bring to a simmer and cook 10 minutes.
  4. Fold in crab meat and cream. Simmer 5 more minutes, stirring gently.
  5. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.
  6. Serve in bowls, garnished with parsley. Optional: serve with crusty bread or oyster crackers.

Notes

For extra depth, simmer the stew longer to concentrate flavors; avoid overcooking crab.
