Method
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- Cut cold butter into dry ingredients until coarse crumbs form.
- Stir in milk or buttermilk just until dough comes together.
- Turn dough onto floured surface, pat into rectangle, and fold once for layers.
- Cut biscuits and place on baking sheet close together.
- Bake 12–15 minutes until golden brown.
- Brush hot biscuits with melted butter and serve warm.
Notes
For softer biscuits, use buttermilk and avoid overmixing.
