Base Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs large
  • 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup soft caramel candies cut into small pieces
  • Flaky sea salt for sprinkling

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x13-inch pan with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
  3. In a large bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
  4. Gradually fold dry ingredients into wet mixture. Stir in chocolate chips and caramel pieces.
  5. Spread batter evenly in pan. Sprinkle extra chocolate chips and a pinch of sea salt on top.
  6. Bake 25–30 minutes, until edges are golden but center is soft.
  7. Cool completely on wire rack. Lift with parchment and cut into bars.

Notes

Bars stay soft for 3 days in an airtight container. Freeze for longer storage.
