Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 3.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2.25 tsp active dry yeast
  • 0.5 cup milk warm
  • 0.33 cup honey
  • 2 eggs room temperature
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Filling
  • 0.5 cup honey
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 tsp cinnamon optional
Frosting
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1.5 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp milk as needed

Method
 

  1. Activate yeast in warm milk until foamy.
  2. Mix honey, eggs, vanilla, salt, and flour to form dough.
  3. Knead in butter until smooth and elastic.
  4. Let dough rise until doubled.
  5. Roll dough, spread butter and honey, and shape babka.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 35–40 minutes.
  7. Prepare frosting and spread over cooled babka.

Notes

Cool completely before frosting for best results.
