- Heat milk and steep Earl Grey tea bags for 10 minutes. Cool completely.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare cake pans.
- Whisk dry ingredients together in a bowl.
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla.
- Alternate adding dry ingredients and tea-infused milk.
- Bake 25–30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
- Prepare buttercream and frost cooled cake layers.
