Ingredients
  

Blackberry Filling
  • 4 cups blackberries fresh or frozen
  • 0.75 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch optional
  • 0.5 tsp cinnamon optional
Cobbler Batter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 cup butter melted

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Toss blackberries with sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch, and cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. Pour melted butter into a 9×13 baking dish.
  4. Whisk together flour, sugar, milk, baking powder, and salt to form a smooth batter.
  5. Pour batter over the melted butter without stirring.
  6. Spoon blackberry mixture evenly over the batter. Do not stir.
  7. Bake 45–55 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
  8. Cool slightly and serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

For a thicker filling, increase cornstarch to 2 tablespoons. Frozen berries do not need to be thawed.
