Pepperoni Pizza Sloppy Joes

A fun and easy twist on classic sloppy joes, loaded with pizza sauce, pepperoni, and melted mozzarella for a saucy, cheesy sandwich everyone loves.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef lean
  • 0.5 yellow onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup pizza sauce or marinara
  • 0.5 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 0.25 tsp crushed red pepper flakes optional
  • 1 cup diced pepperoni
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese divided
  • 2 tbsp Parmesan cheese
  • 4 brioche or hamburger buns toasted
  • 1 tbsp olive oil for toasting buns
  • fresh basil or parsley for garnish

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Spatula
  • Cutting board
  • Toaster or oven broiler

Method
 

  1. Brush buns with olive oil and toast until golden; set aside.
  2. Cook ground beef and onion in skillet over medium heat until browned; drain.
  3. Add garlic, Italian seasoning, and crushed red pepper; cook 1 minute.
  4. Stir in pizza sauce, diced pepperoni, and Parmesan; simmer 3–5 minutes.
  5. Mix in half of the mozzarella until melted and creamy.
  6. Spoon filling onto toasted buns, top with remaining mozzarella and extra pepperoni.
  7. Broil for 1–2 minutes for extra melty cheese.
  8. Garnish with basil or parsley and serve warm.

Notes

Try with turkey pepperoni for a lighter option, or add mushrooms and bell peppers for a supreme-style version.
