Ingredients
  

Base
  • 40-45 butter crackers round or square
Caramel
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Chocolate Topping
  • 1.5 cups chocolate chips semi-sweet
  • flaky sea salt for sprinkling

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Baking sheet
  • Wire rack
  • Hand mixer or stand mixer

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Arrange crackers in a single layer on the prepared sheet.
  3. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add brown sugar and stir until fully combined.
  4. Allow the caramel mixture to boil for 3 minutes without stirring.
  5. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla, and pour evenly over the crackers.
  6. Bake for 5 minutes to help caramel set.
  7. Remove and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the top. Let soften, then spread evenly.
  8. Sprinkle flaky sea salt over the chocolate.
  9. Chill for 20–25 minutes or until firm. Cut or break into bite-sized pieces.

Notes

Store in refrigerator for best texture. Freeze up to 3 months.
