Ingredients
  

  • 2 slices sourdough bread or artisan bread of choice
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1 tsp lemon juice fresh
  • 1 tsp olive oil optional
  • 3 oz smoked salmon thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp red onion very thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp capers optional
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill or chives chopped
  • 1 lemon wedge for serving
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes optional

Method
 

  1. Toast the bread until golden and crisp.
  2. Mash avocado with lemon juice, salt, and pepper in a small bowl.
  3. Spread avocado mixture evenly on each toast slice.
  4. Top with smoked salmon slices, red onion, capers, and dill.
  5. Finish with a squeeze of lemon juice and red pepper flakes. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use whole-grain bread for extra fiber or add a poached egg for more protein.
