Sweet and Spicy Garlic Steak Pasta

Ingredients
  

Pasta & Steak
  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 10 oz pasta linguine or spaghetti
Sweet & Spicy Garlic Sauce
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 6 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar or lemon juice
  • 0.5 cup pasta water or beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce optional
Garnish
  • 2 green onions chopped
  • 0.25 cup fresh parsley chopped
  • sesame seeds optional

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Pot for pasta

Method
 

  1. Cook pasta in salted water until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water.
  2. Season steak with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a skillet and sear steak slices until browned. Remove from pan.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté garlic until fragrant.
  4. Add honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, red pepper flakes, and Worcestershire sauce.
  5. Pour in reserved pasta water to create a glossy sauce.
  6. Add cooked pasta and toss to coat. Add steak back into skillet.
  7. Garnish with green onions, parsley, and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

For a creamy version, stir in 1/2 cup heavy cream at the end.
