Ingredients
  

Mushroom Filling
  • 8 oz mushrooms sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp fresh thyme
Sandwich Assembly
  • 4 slices bread sourdough or rye
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • butter for grilling

Method
 

  1. Sauté mushrooms in butter and olive oil until deeply browned.
  2. Add garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper; cook briefly.
  3. Assemble sandwiches with cheese and mushrooms.
  4. Grill until bread is golden and cheese is melted.
  5. Slice and serve hot.

Notes

Low heat ensures cheese melts before bread browns.
